Title tag

A title tag is the clickable headline that represents your page in Google results and in the browser tab, telling people and search engines what it is.

A title tag is the clickable headline that represents your page in search results and in the browser tab, telling both people and Google what the page is about. On the results page it is the blue line people read first.

For a small business, it is often the very first thing a searcher learns about you, the line they decide to click or skip. A strong one names what the page offers and, for a local business, where you offer it, in the words a customer would actually type. Every page should have its own. Reusing one generic title across a whole site wastes the single best label you are handed on the results page, and it makes your pages blur together in a searcher’s eyes.

I write a distinct, plain-English title for every page, paired with its meta description, as part of the on-page groundwork on any build. The reason is plain: a page has to earn the click before it can earn the customer, and the title is where that starts.
